Charleston SEO for small businesses, minus the smoke and mirrors
Looking for an SEO company in Charleston that will tell you the truth about your website? That is the whole job here. I am Cory Towler, and Offset Digital is my small SEO and web design company in Summerville. I help Lowcountry small businesses show up when people search for what they sell, and I show you the numbers every month so you know it is working.
No wizardry. Just work. (Okay, maybe a little wizardry.)

Who is Offset Digital?
A small shop on purpose. When you hire Offset Digital, you work with me. I do the audit, I build the plan, and I am the one you call when you have a question.
Offset Digital is a Summerville-based search engine optimization (SEO) company that works with small businesses across Charleston, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Goose Creek and the Lowcountry. (Closer to home? Here is how I handle SEO in Summerville.)
Most of my clients are home service businesses: contractors, crawl space and gutter companies, HVAC, locksmiths and the like. I also work with logistics companies and nonprofits.
People call it an SEO agency, an SEO firm or a Charleston SEO expert. Really it is me doing the work, and I like it that way.

Real results from Lowcountry businesses
Anyone can say they are good at SEO. Here are two clients you can look up yourself.
Lowcountry Crawl Spaces, Charleston area
80% more website leads in about 3 months
About 10 leads a month to about 18, with 13 Charleston-focused keywords moved onto page 1.
Travis had been paying another SEO provider for about three years while his leads slowed to a trickle. His organic traffic was down 68% from two years earlier and his page 1 rankings were down 79%. I audited the site, fixed what was broken, rebuilt the page structure and rewrote the main service pages.
Car Keys To Go, South Carolina
From about 15 leads a month to 60 to 80 within the first year
Rock Hill keywords moved from pages 2 and 3 up to positions 2 and 3 on page 1.
Car Keys To Go was on Wix, getting about 15 leads a month from the website with no idea where they came from. We rebuilt the site, set up tracking and pushed local SEO in their target towns.
Our Google reviews are almost as nice as no traffic on I-26. Almost.
"When I first started working with Offset Digital my website was a MESS. Cory was able to quickly identify the problems and help me address them. I can't recommend him enough, especially for small- to medium-size business owners."
Dante DiBattista
"He took the time to educate us on SEO, helped us understand what actually matters, and was honest about where our money would make the biggest impact. That kind of integrity is rare."
Kristen Fox
"He was willing to work within our budget and still provide far more than we expected. He is always a phone call away and goes above and beyond to ensure that our site is set up and performing well."
Michael Peifer, Owner, Wedding Music Charleston
"I started using Cory just a couple months ago and have seen my website leads completely skyrocket! He obviously takes pride in his work and he works diligently until he reaches his clients goal."
Travis Pfeuffer
"We have definitely seen an improvement in our SEO since we started. Can't wait to continue the positive momentum, he definitely knows what he is doing. Highly recommend."
Sara Grant
"He provided numerous wireframe options to choose from and worked hand-in-glove with our team to customize the site to add specific widgets and content that would fit our design best."

How working with an SEO company in Charleston actually goes
Free audit call
We talk about your business, your goals and the towns you want to own. No pressure, no 40-slide pitch deck.
A real audit
My audits take 5 to 7 hours of research. No automated reports. You get a plain-English list of what is broken and what to fix first.
A roadmap
A month-by-month plan with the keywords, pages and fixes in priority order, so you know what you are paying for.
The work
Fixes, pages, Google Business Profile, tracking. I do it, and I tell you what I did.
Monthly reporting
Rankings, traffic and leads, explained in normal words. If something did not move, I will say so and say why.
How much does SEO cost in Charleston?
About $1,000 to $2,500 a month
Month to month. Cancel anytime.
That is where most small businesses I work with land for SEO services in Charleston. Where you fall depends on how many services and towns you want to rank for, how much the site needs fixed up front, and how competitive your trade is in Charleston.
SEO isn't cheap, but it should be affordable, and you should know the number before you start. You will get an exact quote after the audit call, and plans are month to month, so you can cancel anytime.
How I find the keywords Charleston customers actually search
Guessing does not work in this business. I use tools like Semrush and your own Search Console data to find the exact words people use, down to the neighborhood.
Say you are a plumber. "Plumber James Island" gets more searches, but "emergency plumber James Island" tells you the person needs help right now. Longer searches like that are easier to rank for and tend to turn into calls, so I build pages around both. Every keyword gets checked for three things: how many people search it, how hard it is to rank for, and whether the person searching is ready to hire.
How do you know if SEO is paying off?
Rankings are nice. Phone calls pay the bills. So before I report on anything, I make sure your website is counting leads: form submissions, phone taps and email clicks, set up in Google Analytics.
Then the math is simple. If a new customer is worth $2,000 to you and SEO brings in three extra a month, you can see exactly what you are getting back. If the numbers are not there, you will see that too. (This is also a big deal if you ever sell the business. A buyer will want to see where your leads come from.)
New to SEO? Here is the short version
Google does three things: it finds your pages (crawling), decides whether to keep them (indexing), and decides where to show them (ranking). Search engine optimization (SEO) is making sure all three go your way.
For a local business, there are two places to show up. The map results, driven mostly by your Google Business Profile, your reviews and how close you are to the person searching. And the regular results below the map, driven by your website: the right pages, the right words and a site Google trusts.
Google Business Profile and "near me" searches
People ask me all the time if I can just add "near me" to their website. Unfortunately, that is not how it works. Google uses the location of the phone doing the searching. (You know that pop-up asking to use your location? Saying no slows Google's slow march toward becoming Skynet. Saying yes tells it how far you are from the nearest Starbucks after walking your dog in Marion Square.)
What does help: a complete profile, the right categories, every town you serve listed, photos of real work, regular posts and a steady stream of reviews that mention the service and the town.
How to tell a legit Charleston SEO company from a bad one
I would rather you hire someone who passes this test than hire me and wish you hadn't. Hopefully that someone is me.
- They show you named client results you can check yourself.
- You know exactly who is doing the work.
- They track leads, not just rankings.
- They explain what they are doing without a wall of jargon.
- They never promise you the #1 spot. Nobody can.

How much does SEO cost in Charleston, SC?
For most small businesses, SEO with Offset Digital runs about $1,000 to $2,500 a month, depending on how many services and towns you want to rank for and how much work the site needs up front. You get the exact number after a free audit call, before you sign anything.
How long does SEO take to work?
Expect early movement in 2 to 3 months and real lead growth in 6 to 12. Lowcountry Crawl Spaces hit page 1 and saw form submissions go up 80% in about 3 months, but that was quicker than usual. Like a good Lowcountry boil, it needs time to simmer.
Is Charleston too competitive for a small business?
No. Most of the work is local: your Google Business Profile, your service pages and the specific searches people make in your part of town. Big national brands rarely put real effort into local SEO, which leaves room for you.
Do I have to rebuild my website to do SEO?
Not always. Sometimes it takes fixes and better pages. Sometimes the site is holding you back and a rebuild pays for itself, like it did for Car Keys To Go when they moved off Wix. Either way, I will tell you which one before I touch a line of code.
Who will I actually be working with?
Me, Cory Towler. Offset Digital is a small company on purpose. You will not get handed off to an account manager you have never met.
How do I know if a Charleston SEO company is legit?
Ask to see named client results you can check yourself, ask who does the work, ask how they track leads (not just rankings), and be wary of anyone promising the #1 spot. A legit company will show you its own reviews and its own reporting before you pay a dime.
